MAKING YOUR OWN SPACE SUIT

Dr. Cameron Smith is an archaeologist.  But when he was a child, he really wanted to be an astronaut.  Unfortunately, vision problems prohibited him from joining the Airforce and thus moving forward with a career in space travel.  So he did what anyone nearly no one would do in this situation: kept moving forward with his dream of going into space and built his own fully-functional space suit.

If you'd like to learn more about Dr. Smith's space suit project and others, here's the "Pacific Spaceflight" thinktank, Cameron Smith's website, a Wired Magazine article, and a Mashable article.

BONUS ROUND:  a New York Times Roundup of Space Suits.
