RIDE OF THE PHOENIX

In the 1965 film "Flight of the Phoenix," James Stewart and company are stranded in the Sahara Desert after their plane goes down. Luckily, one of the crew members is an aircraft designer and the team of survivors endure grueling days rebuilding a new airplane from the wreckage of the old, in hopes of flying to safety. (NOTE: The 2004 remake was pretty decent and worth the watch).
In 1993, Emile Leray was traveling through the desert in Morocco, when his  Citroën 2CV broke down. Luckily, Leray is a mechanic with ample experience with this make and model of car. After 12 days in the desert, he had succeeded in turning a Citroën 2CV into a desert-worthy motorcycle!
